* Do you know what the DNAME record is?

Suggested article: What is a DNAME record?

The main purpose of the DNS DNAME record (Delegation Name record) is to redirect from a part of the DNS name tree to another part of the DNS name tree. It is defined by RFC 6672 (original RFC 2672 is now obsolete).

The DNAME and CNAME records both cause a lookup to (potentially) return data corresponding to a domain name different from the queried domain name. The difference between the two resource records is that the DNAME record directs lookups for data at descendants of its owner's name to corresponding names.

The DNAME Resource Record has mnemonic DNAME and type code 39 (decimal). It is not class-sensitive.
